Police identify 17 year-old shot & killed in Racine RACINE- Racine Police are identifying a Horlick High School junior as the 17 year-old gunned down late Friday night. Police say Dontrell Bush was shot and killed just before midnight not far from his family home. According to the Racine Journal Times, Bush was a member of the Horlick basketball team. Family members tell the paper that Bush was at a party not far from his home when he got into an argument with a fellow partygoer and that argument escalated into shots being fired. Racine Police have an 18 year old suspect in custody. Charges could be filed in the coming days.
Kenosha Officer Earns Unpaid Suspension Not for Shooting and Paralyzing Jacob Blake But for Losing His Service Weapon Kenosha police officer Rusten Sheskey made headlines in August 2020 for tasing and shooting Jacob Blake seven times, leaving him paralyzed from the waist down. Sheskey was in the news again after being placed on a short suspension with no pay this April, seven months after the shooting of the 29-year-old. The unpaid suspension is for not properly securing a department-issued replacement gun, which was stolen not for shooting Blake. Sheskey was instead placed on paid administrative leave through March 31 for the actual shooting. His three-day suspension for not securing the weapon properly ended April 15.

Wisconsin cop who shot Jacob Blake had weapon stolen from girlfriend’s car: reports Muri Assunção The Kenosha, Wis. cop who shot Jacob Blake last summer had his weapon stolen from his girlfriend’s car, according to internal police investigative records. Rusten Sheskey was suspended for three days earlier this year, after Kenosha police officials waited seven months to investigate the case, the local ABC-affiliated television station WISN-TV reported. Sheskey, who’s white, shot Blake seven times on Aug. 23, 2020, leaving him partially paralyzed. He was later cleared of any criminal wrongdoing and returned to work March 31. Last year Sheskey was issued a replacement Glock 17 pistol, after the weapon he used to shoot Blake was seized by investigators.

To help combat childhood hunger, The Salvation Army of Racine and the Racine Police Department joined together in May 2019 to launch the Healthy Kids Diner. The year-round program, typically held at Racine Community Oriented Policing Houses or COP houses, provides a nutritious dinner for any child in need. Meals, which include a protein, vegetable, fruit, grain and milk, are served Monday through Friday at the Mead Street Cop House, 1750 Mead St., from 3:15 to 3:45 p.m. and the Geneva Street Cop House, 1140 Geneva St., from 4 to 4:30 p.m.
