CM Usman Buzdar opens 15-day typhoid vaccination drive

LAHORE: Chief Minister Usman Buzdar inaugurated a 15-day typhoid vaccination drive at a local hotel here on Wednesday.
During the first phase starting from February 1, children from 9 months to 15 years will be vaccinated in 12 districts while the second phase will begin in the month of May to vaccinate 1.93 crore children in urban areas of 24 other districts.
Addressing the ceremony, the CM thanked the stakeholders for their cooperation and hoped the typhoid conjugate vaccine will protect the children from the fatal disease. The PTI led government is working day and night to improve the quality of life of the common man and special attention was given to the health of mother & child, he added. ....

CM inaugurates anti-typhoid drive

Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar inaugurated a 15-day typhoid vaccination campaign at a hotel on Wednesday.
During the first phase starting February 1, children aged nine months to 15 years will be vaccinated in 12 districts.
The second phase of the drive will begin in May to vaccinate 19.3 million children in urban areas of 24 other districts.
Representatives of the World Health Organisation and the United Nations International Children’s Emergency Fund also spoke on the occasion while Health Adviser Hanif Pitafi, Special Assistant to the Chief Minister on Information and Culture Firdous Ashiq Awan and others attended the ceremony.
Addressing the ceremony, the chief minister thanked the stakeholders for their cooperation and expressed hope the typhoid conjugate vaccine will protect the children from the fatal disease. ....

After the outbreak of novel coronavirus, the health sector of Punjab faced the worst crisis of resources during the outgoing year.
The 253 teaching, district and tehsil headquarters hospitals and basic health units in the province could not be provided adequate financial resources as about 90 per cent of the funds were spent for setting up diagnostic and treatment facilities for coronavirus.
No funds were provided for treatment of heart, neurological, kidney and other diseases. ....
