The Driver and Vehicle Licensing Authority Act, 1999 (Act 569) brought into being the Driver Vehicle Licensing Authority (DVLA), which was a renaming of Vehicle Examination & Licensing Division (VELD) of the Ministry of Transport.
The object of the authority is to promote good driving standards in the country and ensure the use of roadworthy vehicles on the roads, amongst others.
Section 3 on functions of the authority states that: “(1) For the purpose of achieving its object under Section 2, the authority shall have the following function(s)   (h) issue vehicle registration certificates.”
The essence of registration is two-fold: to ensure that vehicles are tested and certified as roadworthy for use; the other is to identity the vehicles as unmistakably Ghanaian, operating in a specific environment. ....

NPA reduces GHp17 fuel margin hike to GHp9 effective Today


Energy Minister Dr Mathew Opoku Prempeh in a meeting with the OMCs
The National Petroleum Authority (NPA) has reduced the GHp17 per litre increase in fuel margins to GHp9 pesewas per litre.
The price change takes effect from Wednesday, 5 May 2021.
A statement issued on 4 May 2021 indicated: “At a meeting held at the Ministry of Energy earlier today between the Hon. Minister of Energy and the National Petroleum Authority (NPA), the Association of Oil Marketing Companies (AOMCs), Bulk Oil Storage and Transportation Co Ltd (BOST), the Chamber of Petroleum Consumers (COPEC), the Institute for Energy Policies and Research (INSTEPR), it has been agreed as follows; the 17 pesewas per litre increase in fuel margins previously announced by the NPA has been reduced to 9 pesewas per litre effective tomorrow, Wednesday, 5th May 2021”. ....

The accident on the Nasia Bridge in the North East Region claimed over dozen lives and that is a worrying statistics.

Solomon Antwi Agyei, a trader, who allegedly sprayed pepper into a mechanic s eyes before robbing him of a Honda Civic Accord vehicle, has appeared before an Accra Circuit Court.
Agyei 35, and Yaw Osei, his accomplice now at large, had told the complainant, a 55-year-old auto mechanic, that they wanted to verify the car documents at the Driver Vehicle Licensing Authority(DVLA)offices near the 37 Military Hospital but on their way, he demanded for the Agyei s driver license which led to the unfolding events,
Agyei then passed through his supposed home at Dzorwulu to pick his license but on his return, Agyei sprayed pepper into the eyes of the complainant and ordered him to alight else they would kill him. ....
