Hajiya Sadiya Umar Farouq, the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development has received Disaster Risk Reduction specialised equipment for search and rescue of persons in distress, donated by the Japanese Government.
Mrs Nneka Anibeze, the Special Assistant on Media to Farouq said this in a statement on Monday in Abuja
According to her, the equipment were presented at the presentation of the 2020 Annual Report of the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA).
The minister said that the donated equipment included nine units of Rescue vehicles with rescue equipment and four units of mobile water purifier systems with vehicles. ....

The Minister of Sanitation and Water Resources, Ms Cecilia Dapaah, has called on stakeholders to support the President to stop illegal mining in the country.
According to her, the activities of the illegal miners were not only destroying water bodies but treatment plants placed at river banks to refine water for distribution to the citizenry.
“It is sad to note the devastation these illegal miners have caused to the water bodies. It is amazing that all their activities are close to treatment plants purchased with money to refine the water for us and we need all stakeholders and everyone to help the President to stop this menace immediately,” she said. ....

The Minister for Energy, Hon. Dr Matthew Opoku Prempeh, has called for the need to generate more, not less, power as the country’s power needs grow in consonance with its growing population and urbanization.
The Minister made this observation when he opened a four-day Energy Sector Work Programme Retreat for 2021 at the Aqua Safari Resort in Ada in the Greater Accra Region.
Dr Prempeh, who is also the MP for Manhyia South and is popularly known as NAPO, indicated that his core vision for the sector reflected the party’s 2020 election manifesto on energy, together with the President’s vision of safe, reliable energy for the country in a bid to meet its energy needs for domestic consumption and industrialization. ....
