TUC Calls For Job Security In The Informal Sector

The Trades Union Congress (TUC) has called for the protection of fundamental human rights, job security, and other occupational privileges for domestic workers to improve their general wellbeing and secure their future.
According to Mr Eric Amoadu Boateng, the Head of Organizing Department of TUC, the nation’s informal sector including; domestic workers employed about 71 percent of the country’s labour force, and the sector contributed significantly to the economic development of the nation.
Therefore protecting their general welfare remains paramount to the holistic economic augmentation, he added.
Mr Boateng was speaking at a domestic workers sensitization forum organized by Action Aid Ghana, an NGO, at Sunyani for traders, artisans, market women, caterers, Porters, spare parts dealers, street vendors, and househelps. ....

Create Integrated Society For Persons With Disability – PWDs President

The Federation of Disability Organization has called on government and other stakeholders to develop policies responsive to the plight of persons with disability to create an integrated society with equal opportunities for all vulnerable persons.
Mr Clement Mba, President of the Federation of Disability Organization, Bongo Chapter, said persons with disability were neglected and and denied support to empower them to live dignified lives.
Mr Mba made this during the Bongo District chapter’s celebration of the international day of the disabled on the theme, “not all disabilities are visible.”
The International Day of the Disabled, designated by the United Nations and celebrated December 3, each year, was to highlight challenges facing persons with disability and advocate proposals to addressing them. ....

LaDMA holds screening exercise for Persons with Disabilities
The La Dadekotopon Municipal Assembly (LaDMA) last week, organized a health screening exercise for Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) as part of activities to mark the World Disability Day.
The event saw over 200 PWDs screened for HIV, Hepatitis B, Breast Cancer, Dental Care, Malaria as well as Cervical Cancer.
Speaking at the event, Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for LaDMA, Mr Solomon Kotey Nikoi said it was important to provide healthcare for PWDs, hence the health screening exercise.
“We are committed to ensuring a very healthy municipality and the country at large and that must include PWDs. We are pleased to bring healthcare to their doorsteps,” he stated. ....
