A familiar fundraiser that is synonymous with the holiday season is short $250,000 across the three Maritime provinces this year, a reflection of the difficult times charities are facing during the pandemic.
Major Jamie Locke says with just two days to go, The Salvation Army s Christmas Kettle campaign is still far from its regional goal of collecting $1.8 million from the Maritimes. Salvation Army hopes to smash fundraising target to help local families

This is a challenging year, said Tim. On one hand, people who are giving are very generous, because they know that this year they are more people who need help. On the other, the need has doubled from last year, and they have put together over 700 Christmas hampers for people in the city, and double the number of toys as usual as well.

Tim said they are grateful for all the support so far through the challenges families are facing this year. He thanks everyone who has volunteered and everyone who has donated.
