Fitting tribute was paid to Gunner General Khaya Makina, who died in March, during an Artillery Formation capability demonstration in Potchefstroom this week.
CArmy Lieutenant General Lawrence Mbatha and the extended army command cadre (EACC) were in the North West town for a top level landward force conference with the demonstration a break from the rigours of planning and other work, including an up-close look at concept designs for the new uniform.
The artillery demonstration was hosted and executed by 4 Artillery Regiment whose Officer Commanding, Lieutenant Colonel MJ Tshabalala, explained it was not just another demonstration. ....

On 17 February, 36 newly appointed General Officers on the rank of Brigadier General were promulgated. Out of the 36, 32 Officers in the South African Army were promoted on 1 March.
Among the promoted General Officers, eight are appointed as General Officers Commanding as follows:
SA Army Air Defence Artillery Formation, Brigadier General LA Puckree.
SA Army Engineer Formation, Brigadier General AM Mahapa.
SA Army Signal Formation, Brigadier General B Peters.

The Military Academy held its prestigious awards ceremony on Wednesday 2 December in the Joe Modise Hall at the unit.
It included both academic and military proficiency awards.
Due to Covid-19 and social distancing, the event was attended only by invited guests and the recipients.
Present were military staff, Alderman Marius Koen, Mayor of Saldanha Bay, and Major General Thembelani Xundu, Director Army Corporate Services, and guests. ....
