Travel ban in 7 countries extended, tourists still not allowed in PH –BI

Bureau of Immigration (BI) Commissioner Jaime Morente announced that the agency will be implementing the extended travel ban on travelers coming from 7 countries due to emerging Covid-19 variants.
In an advisory, the BI stated that passengers coming from India, Pakistan, Nepal, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Oman and UAE are still not allowed to enter until June 15, following the pronouncement of the Palace.
“Those who have a travel history from said countries within the last 14 days from the date of their arrival in the Philippines, will also be prohibited from entering the country,” said Morente. “However, those who will only be transiting in the region—meaning they will not exit the airport and will not be cleared by immigration authorities there, and will only be landing for a layover, may be allowed to enter the Philippines,” he added. ....

Foreign parents of Pinoys need visa, exemption docs to enter PH


MANILA, May 19 The Bureau of Immigration (BI) clarified that foreign parents of Filipinos need to secure a visa and entry exemption document before travelling to the Philippines.
In a statement, BI Commissioner Jaime Morente said foreign parents of Filipino citizens are not covered by the Balikbayan privilege, thus they have to apply for an entry visa from the Philippine posts abroad. Morente added that they are likewise required to present an entry exemption document, which may be issued by the DFA or the National Task Force Against Covid-19 if they wish to come to the country.
Morente stressed that even if the foreign parents are traveling with their Filipino children, they would still need to have a valid 9(a) visa and an entry exemption document. ....

BI now includes Oman, UAE in travel ban until May 31

CALOOCAN CITY, May 16 (PIA)  The Bureau of Immigration (BI) has now included Oman and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) in its enforcement of the extended travel ban on arrivals from South Asian countries. 
BI Commissioner Jaime Morente said they received an order from Malacañang extending the ongoing temporary travel ban for travelers coming from India, Pakistan, Nepal, Bangladesh, and Sri Lanka until May 31, 2021. 
“Following said order, those coming from Oman and UAE will temporarily be barred as well, until the end of the month,” said Morente. 
“Those who will be coming from or have a travel history within the last 14 days from the 7 countries will excluded and sent back to their port of origin,” he added.  ....
