WA Premier Mark McGowan has claimed professional protesters are taking advantage of vulnerable people at a tent city which sprang up in the Western Australian port city of Fremantle, south of Perth, on Boxing Day.

Smaller Australian charities have been economically damaged the most by the pandemic as the sector prepares for resources to be further stretched from March when the federal government s JobKeeper payments end.
While the full impact of COVID-19 on charities in 2020 will not be clear until they lodge their annual returns later this year, many smaller organisations dependent on fundraising have seen a drop in donations.

Concerns over whether a peak national program to mentor about 3000 Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander girls will be up and running at the start of the school year in February have been raised by the federal opposition.
The Girls Academy program will see a shift in its provider from former Perth Wildcat Ricky Grace s charity Role Models and Leaders Australia, which founded the initiative 16 years ago, to three other organisations as the federal government seeks to expand services to 5600 students.
Ricky Grace s not-for-profit will no longer run Girls Academies around Australia. ....
