COLUMBIA – Rabbi Yossi Feintuch compared Shabbat to going into a cave.
“You can’t see how beautiful it is until you see the inside,” he told a group of about 60 people gathered at Congregation Beth Shalom on Friday. “People look at the Sabbath from the outside and notice all of the restrictions. You have to be a part of the Sabbath to really understand and appreciate it.”
The community Shabbat was part of Shabbat Across America, a nationwide event inviting Jewish congregations to participate in the weekly day of rest. More than 450 locations have participated in the community Shabbat, according to the National Jewish Outreach Program s website. ....
