JERUSALEM, May 11 (Xinhua) Israel carried out airstrikes against the Gaza Strip after rockets were fired Monday from the territory toward Jerusalem.
After hundreds of Palestinians were injured in clashes with Israeli police in East Jerusalem on Monday morning, Hamas, which rules the Gaza Strip, launched rocket attacks against Jerusalem in the afternoon.
The international community has voiced deep concerns over the surging tensions and violence in the region, calling on all sides to exercise maximum restraint and take immediate actions toward de-escalation.

JERUSALEM, May 10 (Xinhua) Tensions between Israeli security forces and Palestinian protesters in East Jerusalem continued into Sunday night and Monday morning, with a total of over 300 Palestinians injured in violent clashes over the weekend.

Israel delays Palestinian eviction hearing after clashes, postpones the hearing in a legal case


The Israeli Justice Ministry said on Sunday that it was postponing the hearing in a legal case that could see several Palestinian families evicted from their homes.
The announcement comes after several days of clashes in Jerusalem. Scores of Palestinians and several Israeli security forces were injured overnight in violence sparked by a dispute over a land ownership case dating back to before the foundation of the state of Israel.
Fresh fighting between Israeli security forces and Palestinian protesters left dozens injured on Monday as a clash about access to parts of the Old City and attempts to evict a Palestinian family from their home reached one of Jerusalem s holiest sites. ....

Demonstrators in Jerusalem protest hatred, violence
Israeli police had cordoned off areas of the Old City to prevent gatherings and cracked down on protesters in a show of force that threatened to deepen the holy city s worst religious unrest in several years.
More than 90,000 Muslims had gathered at the Noble Sanctuary  known to Jews as the Temple Mount  where the Al-Aqsa mosque is located, to pray during a date with religious significance for Muslims, news agency dpa reported.
