The number of Covid-19 patients being brought in dead (BID) has increased due to the public’s lack of awareness of how to track their symptoms while self-isolating at home and the current inaccessibility to emergency medical services.
This is according to the Islamic Medical Association of Malaysia’s Response and Relief Team (Imaret) Covid-19 task force coordinator Dr Ahmad Munawwar Helmi Salim, who has been volunteering with his team to assist the frontliners at the Covid-19 Assessment Centres (CACs).

A medical NGO has called for volunteers to assist the operation at the Covid-19 Assessment Centre (CAC) and vaccine dispensing centres (PPV) in Shah Alam, Selangor.
The Islamic Medical Association of Malaysia’s Response and Relief Team (Imaret) is looking for volunteers with a medical and non-medical background.
Its chief coordinator Dr Ahmad Munawwar Helmi Salim said Imaret has been recruiting 30 volunteers every day to help the operation at the.

KUALA LUMPUR: The Islamic Medical Association of Malaysia’s Response and Relief Team (IMARET) is looking forward to collaborating with the authorities on the planning and execution of the Covid-19 vaccination programme, particularly for the marginalised communities, including undocumented foreigners and refugees.
In a statement today, IMARET said in order for Malaysia to recover in terms of health and economy, it is only apt that all who are involved from every sector are immunised.
It said since 2015, the organisation has been running mobile clinics in Johor, Kedah and the Klang Valley which aimed to provide primary health services and health education to the refugees, adding that some of the clinics are operational and fully equipped to run the vaccination programme. ....

Tatler's Community Award 2020: Celebrating MODA's Covid Relief Efforts


Covid-19 and the ensuing lockdown had left fashion designers like Melinda Looi and Khoon Hooi in a bit of a spot as orders were cancelled and demand for new apparel fell drastically. Despite the gloom, Looi felt the need to turn this into something positive and that was by harnessing her skill as a garment-maker to produce PPE gear for medical frontliners. However, she knew she couldn t possibly do much on her own.
As president of the Malaysia Official Designers Association (MODA), she rallied a community of designers to volunteer their services. Combining forces, they managed to raise enough money to buy the first sets of material for the PPEs MODA eventually raised RM700,000 for this purpose. ....
