NEW DELHI: The ministry of labour and employment has rejuvenated 20 control rooms to address wage-related
grievances of workers in light of the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic.
As per a statement, the control rooms, that were set up in April last year, will also mitigate the problems of migrant workers through coordination with various state governments under the Office of Chief Labour Commissioner (Central) across the country. Lakhs of workers used this facility last year and got their grievances resolved, the statement claimed.
Aggrieved workers will be able to access these control rooms through email, mobile and Whatsapp. The functioning of these control rooms, managed by Labour Enforcement Officers, Assistant Labour Commissioners, Regional Labour Commissioners, and Deputy Chief Labour Commissioners of the respective regions, is being monitored and supervised by the Chief Labour Commissioner (C) at headquarters on a daily basis, the statement added. ....

As the country witnesses another exodus of migrant workers back to their villages, the Union Labour Ministry has decided to reopen the 20 control rooms which were set up in April 2020.
Union Labour Secretary Apurva Chandra said migrant workers who need any assistance can make use of the control rooms. A release from the Ministry said the officials with the Chief Labour Commissioner will be available in the 20 control rooms and they will address wage-related grievances of workers employed in the Central sphere. The control room will also try and mitigate the problems of migrant workers through co-ordination with various State governments. The Ministry claimed that lakhs of workers used this facility in 2020 and resolved their grievances . ....

JAMMU TAWI, MARCH 16: The Commissioner/ Sectretary Labour and Employment, Saurabh Bhagat today stated that the Labour legislations have changed and the old books of Labour codes are of no use now.
Labour Commissioner, J&K, Abdul Rashid War, Deputy Labour Commissioner, Ahmad Hussain Bhat, Deputy Labour Commissioner, Centre, Abdul Satar and other officers were present at the seminar.
J&K claims to be the first among all the states and union territories in the country to prepare rules for Labour Laws which are awaiting approval. He said legislations regarding Labour have changed and previous books based on Labour laws are of no use now.
