LISGIS Launches World Bank Five-Year's HISWA Project in Liberia

With funding from the World Bank Group, the government through the Liberia Institute of Statistics and Geo-Information Services (LISGIS) has launched a five-year project called Harmonizing and Improving Statistics in West Africa (HISWA).
The ceremony, which was launched by the Assistant Finance Minister for Development Planning, Benedict Kolubah, as proxy for the Finance Minister, Samuel D. Tweah, took place on Thursday, April 29, 2021, at the Ministerial Complex in Congo Town under the theme, “Supporting Statistics for Development Planning”.

Efforts underway to ease overstretched medical facilities in Tawau, says Masidi

pic) said that the state Health Department was taking necessary action to resolve the problems of three quarantine centres that had reached nearly full capacity.
But things are getting better by the day but we are not out of the woods yet, he said when contacted Thursday (April 29).
Medical facilities are being stretched in Tawau due to the rising number of cases in the district which has been under the movement control order.
He said that the state health authorities had to re-open the army field hospital and the low-risk quarantine centre two weeks ago. ....

'Sarawak General Hospital still has room for patients'

KUCHING: The Sarawak General Hospital (SGH) and quarantine centre here still has room for Covid-19 patients despite rising admissions over the past month, says Datuk Seri Dr Sim Kui Hian.
The state Local Government and Housing Minister said the average bed occupancy in SGH’s Covid ward was about 74% in epidemic week 16 from April 19 to 25, which saw an average of 69 admissions per day.
In the same period, occupancy of ventilated beds in critical care for Covid-19 and high-risk severe acute respiratory infection (SARI) cases and patients under investigation (PUI) averaged 81% while the low-risk quarantine and treatment centre had 79% average occupancy. ....

Quarantine sites nearly full

KOTA KINABALU: The number of Covid-19 cases in Sabah’s south-east Tawau district is rising with its three quarantine centres nearly reaching full capacity.
State Assistant Finance Minister and Apas assemblyman Daruk Nizam Abu Bakar Titingan voiced his concern over the public apathy that was being blamed for the surge in cases in the district.
Both the district hospital and quarantine centres are being stretched, with daily cases increasing in the district since April 3, he said.
“The situation is getting critical and worrying in Tawau.
“The district hospital is already full and the quarantine centres at Tawau Sports Complex and others are nearly full, ” he told reporters after attending the Tawau district disaster management committee meeting chaired by Tawau municipal council president Arnold Joibi yesterday. ....
