A fundraiser was created on GoFundMe in response to an assault Thursday night on Rainbow Young on Varick Street in Utica.
Rainbow is a popular character who is frequently seen playing various instruments while roaming around bars in Utica.
According to the fundraiser post, Rainbow is fine “outside of a couple bruises,” but his accordion was destroyed.
The fundraiser was made around 9:30 p.m. Thursday to help Rainbow purchase a new instrument. The accordion will be purchased with the help of Big Apple Music in New Hartford.
The desired goal was $2,200, but it already had reached $6,000 by early Friday afternoon. ....
