Uttarakhand to take action against those involved in black marketing of COVID-19 medicines

Dehradun (Uttarakhand) [India], May 12 (ANI): Uttarakhand Chief Secretary Om Prakash on Wednesday said the state government will take effective action against hospitals and persons involved in black marketing of COVID-19 medicines and appealed to the public s cooperation.
He said effective action will start from May 13 as there is a provision of a life sentence for selling fake drugs in law.
Today 80 metric tonnes of oxygen has been received. 60 MT is needed on a daily basis in the state, the Chief Secretary informed.
He further said that vaccine will be imported from abroad and a committee has been formed for that purpose. ....

DEHRADUN: With 33 deaths per lakh population, Uttarakhand has the highest COVID-19 mortality rate among the Himalayan states and nationwide it ranks ninth, according to the state health department s data.
In this regard, Uttarakhand Chief Secretary Om Prakash said that one of the major reasons for the rise in death rate in the state is that people, who are reaching the hospital after contracting the virus, are in critical condition. ....

Amid rising cases of COVID-19, Uttarakhand Chief Secretary Om Prakash on Monday said the state needs one lakh doses of COVID-19 vaccine per day.
Addressing a joint press conference here yesterday, Prakash stated that the state government has requested the central government to allow the purchase of Covid-19 vaccines from abroad.
We need 1 lakh vaccine doses per day. We have written to the Central Government to ask if the state government can import the vaccine directly from other countries. Meanwhile, we have decided to start a mobile testing van very soon. The vehicle will go to remote rural areas to identify the patients and check them for Covid-19 there itself. This will save them the hassle of going to the city for Covid-19 testing, said the Chief Secretary. ....

In this regard, Uttarakhand Chief Secretary Om Prakash said that one of the major reasons for the rise in death rate in the state is that people, who are reaching the hospital after contracting the virus, is in critical condition.
One of the reasons for rise in the death toll is that COVID-19 patients are reaching the hospital in critical condition. People should consult a doctor as soon as they see symptoms. So far, 76 per cent of deaths have been at the hospitals, said the Chief Secretary. ....
