The East Godavari district authorities erected barricades at all the entry points to Gollavilli village in the Konaseema region, in which at least eight persons succumbed to COVID-19 within two weeks. By Sunday, the entry of outsiders has been banned into the village as per the COVID containment strategy.
The district authorities have swung into action following an appeal by the residents to initiate measures to prevent COVID deaths in their village.
Uppalaguptam Tahsildar G. Jhansi told
The Hindu that eight people have died in Gollavilli village within a few days. A temporary medical camp has been set up there to conduct COVID-19 tests based on the data of a door-to-door survey.” ....

The East Godavari police on Thursday seized nearly 500 litres of crude oil reportedly stolen by a gang from the pipeline of the Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC) at Valasatippa area under Uppalaguptam police limits. The police swing into action after locals alert them about the theft at the ONGC pipeline.

Above three lakh voters have exercised their franchise within four hours of polling in Konaseema region in East Godavari district, in which Gram Panchayat polling is being held in the 16 mandals on Sunday.
The polling is being monitored by Dr.B.R.Ambedkar, who has been appointed new Election Observer for the East Godavari district.
In an official release, District Panchayat Officer S. Venkateswar Naik has said; A total of 3,06,204 voters have exercised their vote within four hours after the commencement of the polling in the 3201 polling stations on Sunday . ....
