MUMBAI: National High Speed Rail Corporation (NHSRC) has commenced Light Detection and Ranging Survey (LiDAR) survey for preparation of detailed project report (DPR) for 736 km-long Mumbai-Nagpur High Speed Rail Corridor started today

NHSRCL spokesperson said, “We are adopting LiDAR technology which provides all the ground details and data in 3-4 months wherein this process normally takes 10-12 months.” ....

LiDAR survey for Delhi-Varanasi high speed rail corridor begins from Greater Noida

New Delhi [India], January 11 (ANI): The Light Detection and Ranging Survey for Delhi-Varanasi High-Speed Rail (DVHSR) Corridor began on Sunday from Greater Noida, where a helicopter fitted with state-of-art Aerial LiDAR and imagery sensors took the first flight and captured the data related to the ground survey, informed the Ministry of Railways.
The proposed plan for DVHSR Corridor will connect Delhi with major cities like Mathura, Agra, Etawah, Lucknow, Raebareli, Prayagraj, Bhadohi, Varanasi and Ayodhya.
The main corridor from Delhi to Varanasi (approximately 800 km) will also be connected to Ayodhya. The High-Speed Rail (HSR) route will also connect the upcoming international airport at Jewar in Gautam Buddha Nagar District of Uttar Pradesh. ....

Bullet trains to be run on elevated corridors, says Railway Board CEO
Indian Railways is on course to complete the electrification of entire broadgauge network by 2023 with 66% of track length already covered so far. The speed of electrification has been scaled up from 1,176 km in 2014-15 to 5, 276 km in 2018-19 and 4,378 km in 2019-20 despite COVID-19 restrictions, said Railway Board Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Vinod Kumar Yadav.
“It will be a unique feat among the major railways in the world to run trains fully with indigenously produced power without dependence on imported fossil fuel. After 100% electrification the estimated saving on fuel bill will be about ₹14,500 crore per annum,” he said, in a recent online media interaction. ....

Ministry of Railways on Saturday quashed the news reports that suggested the national transporter will do away with waiting list from 2024.
Various newspapers and online publications have given wide coverage to draft National Rail Plan. Some of the news reports appear to suggest that Railways has said that there would be No waiting list with effect from 2024 or only confirmed tickets would be available by 2024, said the ministry in an official release. ....
