Amsterdam [Netherlands], May 7 (ANI): By rejecting the European Parliamentresolution on rising cases of blashempy law abuse in Pakistan, the Imran Khan government has conveyed that its relations with terror outfit Tehrik-i-Labaik Pakistan (TLP) is weightier and more invaluable than that with the 27 democratic countries, said a European think tank.
The European Parliament, in its latest session, has adopted a resolution demanding Pakistan to allow space for religious freedom and urged the EU authorities to review the General Scheme of Preferences Plus (GSP+) status for Pakistan amid the increasing number of blasphemy cases. ....

The discussion in the European Parliament with regards to Pakistan was not positive, nor was it fair. The issue of the country’s blasphemy laws was brought up by Member of European Parliament (MEP) Charlie Weimars of Sweden, who has been linked to Islamophobic and racist organisations in the past. The concern over false allegations of blasphemy combined with the singular focus on Pakistan’s human rights issues hardly appears to be in good faith and taste. However, the fact that the EU resolution – calling for a review of trade ties, including our GSP+ status – passed overwhelmingly reflects a failure in Pakistan’s diplomatic outreach. While embarrassing, the situation is not as bad as it seems. The EU is mandated to review Pakistan’s human rights progress every two years under GSP+ anyway. Now is the time for the government to build better communication systems and engage in active lobbying in Europe to motivate them of our viewpoint. ....

French Court Throws out Charges Against Le Pen over ISIS Photos

The Nanterre Correctional Court has thrown out charges against populist MP Marine Le Pen and MEP Gilbert Collard after the pair posted images of Islamic State abuses on Twitter in 2015.
The Nanterre court ruled on Tuesday that the publication of the images by Ms Le Pen and Mr Collard was “part of a political protest process and contributes to public debate” and rejected the prosecutor’s demand for the pair to be fined €5,000 (£4,314/$5,995).
The court also noted that the two politicians were not endorsing the acts by the terror group as the images were accompanied by commentary and stated the pair had the right to freedom of expression, ....
