Community groups across the Hinkler electorate will be supported by a new Coalition Government program to lower energy costs and support local jobs.
Hinkler MP Keith Pitt said the Powering Communities Program will fund up to 12 projects worth a total of $67,700 in the electorate.
Grants of between $5,000 and $12,000 will be available to eligible community organisations, with no co-contribution required, he said.
The grant will assist groups to lower their energy bills by installing solar panels or a battery, upgrading air conditioners, hot water systems or a refrigerator with more efficient models, replacing lighting with LEDs or conducting an energy audit. ....

A new report has reaffirmed Australia s position as a top producer of key critical minerals and the backbone of our national economy.
Launching the 2020 edition of Australia s Identified Mineral Resources report in Mackay, Resources Minister Keith Pitt said it confirmed Australia entered the COVID-19 economic crisis in a strong position due to its mineral resources sector.
He said Geoscience Australia s annual stocktake had tracked the country s mineral resources since 1975.
At the end of 2019, Australia remained a global leader in mineral exploration and production, and one of the world s most desirable locations for investing in the mineral sector, he said. ....

Precision and accuracy are among the benefits the local agricultural industry could see from the latest Global Navigation Satellite System ground station upgrades.
Bundaberg is one of the first in Queensland to receive the upgrades and benefit from more reliable and accessible positioning technology.
Speaking in a Greensill Farming shed today, federal Member for Hinkler and Minister for Resources, Water and Northern Australia Keith Pitt said the improvements would help increase productivity and open up new economic opportunities.
“GNSS ground station data from stations like the one in Bundaberg make it possible to get reliable and precise positioning down from around 10m to just 3cm accuracy in areas of mobile phone coverage,” Mr Pitt said. ....
