Finally, the members of the parliament of India were permitted to have 3-day Kashmir visit to review the status of the highways and assess the potential and promotion of the tourism sector and preservation of archaeological and heritage sites. The Parliamentary Standing Committee led by its Chairman and Member Parliament TG Venkatesh met representatives from tour, travel and hospitality sector representing Kashmir Chamber oF Commerce and Industry, Hotelier Club, Travel Association of Kashmir, Houseboats Association. They were briefed by officials of Culture and Tourism, Archaeological Survey of India.rThe meeting’s interesting attendee was National Conference President and MP Dr Farooq Abdullah who shared the dais with Dr Jitendra Singh. Srinagar, Jan 20: An 18 member Parliamentarian delegation arrived here today on a study tour and they are meeting all party leaders tomorrow before meeting various officials and stakeholders of tourism, culture and transport.
The members are part of standing committee on tourism, culture and transport. An official said that 13 MPs arrived today and rest will join them tomorrow. He said it is 31 member delegation including 13 officials.
They will review the tourism infrastructure and would meet officials and other stakeholders associated with the sector regarding publicity and promotions in the Valley at the Taj Vivanta hotel where they are staying. ....
