A missing elderly Winston-Salem man has been found dead after a construction crew found his car stuck in mud with the engine running earlier Thursday.Police said the vehicle, a 2005 Dodge Magnum, which belonged to 88-year-old Byron Effler, was found near the Northern Beltway project, on the former ramp that leads from University Parkway to Northbound US 52. The vehicle was still running and no one was around the vehicle.After members of the Winston-Salem Police Department, the Forsyth County Sheriff s Department and the Triad Bloodhounds responded to the area to search a heavily wooded area nearby, Effler s body was found.
