New $9.7m Reef Resilience vessel to be based in Gladstone

A state-of the art $9.7 million vessel based at Gladstone will bring new capabilities in compliance, surveying and research on the southern Great Barrier Reef.
The 24-metre Reef Resilience vessel was unveiled on Friday by Federal Environment Minister Sussan Ley, Queensland Environment and Great Barrier Reef Minister Meaghan Scanlon and Manufacturing, Regional Development and Water Minister, Member for Gladstone Glenn Butcher.
Ms Ley said the Reef Resilience vessel was jointly funded by the Federal and Queensland governments under the Reef Joint Field Management Program.

Rookwood Weir project reaches significant milestone

The $367.2 million Rookwood Weir project reached a significant milestone on Friday, with the announcement in-river construction was underway.
Rookwood Weir is being built on the Fitzroy River, 66 kilometres southwest of Rockhampton.
Once complete, the more than 16-metre high weir would enable a transition to higher value agricultural land use and facilitate new industrial business opportunities in the region.
The 18-metre high concrete Riverslea Bridge upgrade was also nearly complete.
The upgrade would replace the existing crossing with a single 3.5-metre wide road lane, connecting the approaches to the bridge with the existing road, including passing bays at both ends, and demolishing the existing culvert crossing. ....

Gladstone 'cooking with gas': Hydrogen project powering ahead

The evolution of Gladstone as a renewable hydrogen powerhouse is exceeding benchmarks with the $4.2 million project s plant months ahead of schedule.
Hydrogen Park Gladstone will be an Australian first, delivering up to 10 per cent renewable hydrogen into the gas network to feed about 770 customers.
The Palaszczuk government has invested $1.7 million into the project, Energy, Renewables and Hydrogen Minister Mick de Brenni said, to drive the hydrogen industry forward and create highly skilled jobs in regional Queensland.
The Hydrogen Park Gladstone project will be the first in Australia to blend renewable hydrogen into an entire city gas network for residential, commercial and industrial customers, he said. ....
