Saudi Red Crescent Authority declares success in Ramadan plan

MAKKAH: The Saudi Red Crescent Authority (SRCA) declared the success of its plan during Ramadan by being available in the central region and inside the Grand Mosque in Makkah, with the participation of 500 female and male volunteers who provided more than 49,000 volunteer hours, via the SRCA branch in Makkah, and on the roads leading to it.
SRCA said that during Ramadan, Makkah centers received 9,411 reports, most of which were for cases of sickness with 5,713 reports including respiratory diseases, diabetes, fainting and epilepsy, while accident reports reached 3,698 including car accidents, falls and burns.
SRCA receives reports via the free-toll number 997 or via the “Asefni” smartphone application. ....

Monrovia – Jerome Clarke, the president of the Liberian National Red Cross Society (LNRCS) says the lack of financial support from the government is causing serious challenges for them to deliver help to those who need it desperately.
The LNRCS was created by an act from the Legislature with the aim of helping vulnerable people in difficult circumstances at all times.
Speaking to journalists on Tuesday at the head office in the preparedness of this year World Red Cross and Red Crescent Day 2021, the president of the LNRCS said having given birth to the Liberian Red Cross Society years back, it is the obligation of the government to support and provide pieces of advice to the institution. ....

Government officials and representatives from both local and international organizations commended the Philippine Red Cross (PRC) led by its Chairman and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Senator Richard J. Gordon for promptly responding to emergencies regardless of its nature.

Soufriere volunteers celebrated on World Redcross Day

Yesterday, Monday May 8, 2021 was observed as World Red Cross and Red Crescent Day.
In St. Vincent and the Grenadines, the day was dedicated to the volunteers and staff of the Red Cross who are reaching people affected by the eruption of La Soufrière, dengue, and COVID-19, and display a commitment to local community action that is unstoppable, a release stated.
“It has been a difficult time for our communities since the eruption of La Soufrière one month ago. The Red Cross teams have been out learning about needs and providing emergency relief to those impacted. Many of our volunteers and staff have been impacted by the evacuations themselves,” said Bernard Morgan, President of the St. Vincent and the Grenadines Red Cross Society (SVGRC). ....
