Prime Minister Imran Khan has emphasized the need for collective national actions, regional collaboration, and multilateral cooperation to meet adverse impacts of COVID-19.
He was virtually addressing the opening segment of the 77th Session of the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific on Monday.
The Prime Minister suggested four key areas of focus to meet the challenge.
He said we have to put the people front and center for pro-poor and inclusive policies and we need to strengthen public health and social protection systems. He said these have been the primary objectives for us in Pakistan. ....

Prime Minister Imran Khan said on Monday that it might take years to regain pre-Covid income levels whereas varying financial capacities, health care and vaccine rollout may lead to uneven recovery among countries and regions.
The premier’s remarks came at the opening Segment of the 77th Session of the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (UNESCAP).
“We are in the midst of an unprecedented global crisis unleashed by the COVID-19 pandemic. We have seen its devastating health and socio-economic impacts all around the world, with Asia and the Pacific also bearing the brunt,” he said. ....

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Imran Khan Monday called for disavowing power rivalries and geopolitical competition and said the world was at a critical point in world history, as the COVID pandemic has dramatically illustrated humanity’s oneness and interdependence.
“We must opt for unconditional international cooperation. Together, we can – we must – construct a new, peaceful, equitable and sustainable world order,” he said while making opening statement at the Special Segment of the ECOSOC Forum on Financing for Development.

PM to address the Special High-Level Segment of ECOSOC Forum--China Economic Net


 
ISLAMABAD, April 12 (Gwadar Pro) - Prime Minister Imran Khan will deliver the Opening Statement at the Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) Forum on Financing for Development (FfD) today. The Forum will be held from 12-15 April 2021 under Pakistan’s Presidency of ECOSOC.
 
The objective of the Forum is to mobilize adequate financial support to enable the developing countries to recover from the impact of the Covid pandemic and achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and the climate objectives. The Special high-level segment of the ECOSOC Forum is being held in response to a decision of the UN General Assembly.
 
Prime Minister Imran Khan has been in the forefront of international efforts to provide developing countries with the fiscal space and liquidity to respond to the current Covid induced economic recession. The Prime Minister advanced the “Global Initiative on Debt Relief” for developing countries in April 2020 and, in January 2021, he ....
