LAHORE: The Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Ltd (SNGPL) is allegedly delaying the approval of an agreement meant for accessing its distribution network by a consortium formed to import LNG and supply to several member stations of the All Pakistan CNG Association (APCNGA) in Punjab.
The delay is being seen as a move to stop private parties, especially the CNG sector, from importing LNG independently and instead keeping them dependent on the SNGPL for getting supplies to gas stations in the province, ....

The compressed natural gas (CNG) industry has sought allocation of long-term terminal and pipeline capacity in an effort to attract viable suppliers for liquefied natural gas (LNG) import at competitive rates.
In this regard, Universal Gas Distribution Company (Pvt) Limited (UGDC) - a special purpose company - was set up five years ago with approval of the Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) for LNG import for the CNG sector while bearing financial risk. ....

Private sector companies again asked to import 100-250mmcfd LNG

ISLAMABAD: Under the Third Party Access (TPA) rules, the government has once again asked the private sector to import LNG by using the unutilized capacity of the government against 600 mmcfd (million cubic feet per day) available at PGPL LNG terminal and to this effect Pakistan LNG Limited has issued an advertisement to national dailies, seeking the interest of private sector companies to utilise the government’s capacity, a senior official at the Petroleum Division told The News.
The government has apparently issued the ad offloading its capacity for six months, but for the first three months i.e. February, March and April of the calendar year 2021, the capacity to import LNG in the range of 100-250 mmcfd will be offloaded to the private sector as per the cabinet decision. However, for the next three months, the interest of private sector companies will be gauged for future planning, industrial sources also confirmed this to The News. ....
