RMI committee transformed, renamed

The RMI provides provincial funding - $6.35 million for Whistler in 2012 - to eligible B.C. resort communities to help develop tourism initiatives.
Instead of creating two separate committees with similar analysis, planning and representation, Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) Mike Furey broadened the RMI committee s mandate, creating the EPI in order to prevent what he called, process fatigue.

Festival to go on without X Games

Sue Eckersley, president of WSSF producer Watermark Communications, said Wednesday (May 2) that the festival s contract with Telus expired this year and she doesn t expect the telecommunications provider to be back as the event s title sponsor next year.
That s going to be a big thing in the next couple of months, is establishing the title (sponsor), said Eckersley. Obviously, Telus has put a big financial stake into this festival in the last 13 years and we ll have to work hard to replace that value.
Eckersley said having an X Games bid on the table was a drawback in terms of planning for next year s WSSF. ....
