IL&FS receives settlement amount of Rs 693 cr from NHAI

ITNL, a subsidiary of IL&FS, on 31 March 2021 has duly received settlement amount of Rs 673 crore for Kiratpur Ner Chowk Expressway (KNCEL) and Rs 20 crore towards claims for Chenani Nashri Tunnelway (CNTL) - from National Highways Authority of India (NHAI).
With these two projects, NHAI and MoRTH have settled aggregate IL&FS claims of over Rs 1,804 crore across 6 Road projects.
KNCEL project was foreclosed under the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH) guidelines of March 2019 for stalled and incomplete projects. CNTL is a completed project, earning annuities, and the Rs 19.6 crore is the claim amount towards change of scope. ....

Parl Panel suggests systemic review by RBI to pre-empt IL&FS type crisis

A Parliamentary panel on Tuesday suggested a thorough systemic review by the Reserve Bank to pre-empt IL&FS kind of crisis, involving systemically important entities.
The Standing Committee on Finance, chaired by Jayant Sinha, in its report said the resolution of IL&FS remains sub-judice before the National Company Law Appellate Tribunal (NCLAT).
.delays in the resolution process not only brings a steep value erosion to the bankers and other creditors but more importantly leaves the understanding of the lacunae in the system evasive, it said.
The financial crisis in IL&FS came to light after some of its group entities defaulted on debt payments. The government in October 2018 superseded its board. ....

Karnataka Bank declines on reporting Rs 34.16-crore fraud to RBI

Karnataka Bank fell 2.23% to Rs 67.85 after the bank reported to Reserve Bank of India (RBI) a fraud in the credit facilities extended earlier to IL&FS Transportation Networks with an outstanding balance of Rs 34.16 crore.
IL&FS Transportation Networks availed credit facilities from Karnataka Bank during 2016 under multiple banking arrangement wherein, Karnataka Bank was one of the member banks and during 2018, the borrowing account was classified as Non-Performing Asset (NPA) and has been fully provided for. There shall be no impact on the financials of the bank ahead, it added. The announcement was made post trading hours on Friday, 19 February 2021. ....
