The construction of the Nairobi Expressway has been fast-tracked and will now be completed six months earlier than the projected date.
The initial completion date of the 27 km road was September 2022 but according to Transport and Infrastructure Cabinet Secretary (CS) James Macharia, the government has pushed the contactor to deliver it early to ease traffic snarl-up on the busy highway.
The CS announced that the road would be ready for public use from February 2022.
On Saturday, July 10, Macharia announced that the Ksh63 billion road, was 60 per cent complete, noting that the China Roads and Bridges Company (CRBC) was working 24 hours daily. ....

Kenya is modernising its aviation hubs to improve passenger-handling capacity to nine million.
Transport and Infrastructure Cabinet Secretary (CS) James Macharia said the State will also expand railway transport to handle 50 per cent of the cargo freight from the port of Mombasa as well as promote commuter rail services.
Macharia, whose docket includes housing, urban development and public works, said shipping and maritime facilities will also be improved to facilitate the transhipment of cargo.
He was addressing an event to mark this year’s edition of the World Engineering Day held at the University of Nairobi. ....

The Railways Training Institute (RTI) has been refurbished by the government in preparation for the takeover of the Standard Gauge Railway(SGR) train operations by Kenya Railways Corporation.
Speaking on March 5 during a tour of the refurbished RTI, Transport and Infrastructure Cabinet Secretary (CS) James Macharia said that the institute would enable the government to cater to a large number of Kenyans who wanted to work in the industry. ....
