I remember vividly how my mother had to struggle to raise funds for me to attend a Scripture Union (SU) Camp in Jasikan during the mid-90’s. Even though I was young, I appreciated her efforts and her determination to ensure that I participate in the Scripture Union Camp to build and align myself to the teachings of the Gospel.
Most Ghanaian women, irrespective of their background and educational level, ensure the safety and protection of their families.
March 8 is commemorated globally every year to celebrate the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women. This is backed by the United Nations SDG Goal 5 which aims at, Achieving gender equality and the empowerment of all women and girls. ....

The Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection is mandated to coordinate and ensure gender equality and equity, promote the survival, social protection and development of children, the vulnerable and excluded and persons with a disability, and integrate fulfilment of their rights, empowerment and full participation into national development.

Art Exhibition climax 16 Days Activism against gender based violence

The story of a sixteen-year-old girl in an abusive relationship sent chills down the spines of participants who attended an art exhibition organised in Accra to climax this year’s 16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence (GBV).
In a painful voice the young girl narrated how she repeatedly endured physical assault from her partner but was still not willing to end the relationship.
This and the many other faces of sexual and gender based violence were depicted at the art exhibition, put together by the Young Leader Fellows (Yole Fellow) of the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA). ....
