On Monday evening the Saskatchewan Rivers School Division notified the public that a case of COVID-19 had been connected to three schools in the division. These schools are King George Public School, Queen Mary Public School and Carlton Comprehensive High School.
This was the second cases reported at King George and Carlton this week.
At King George Public School one classroom of students has been identified as close contacts and are required to isolate.
At Queen Mary, two classrooms of students have been identified as close contacts and are required to isolate. ....

Positive case at Arthur Pechey Public School

A case of COVID-19 has been identified in Arthur Pechey Public School by the Saskatchewan Health Authority.
The active case means that two Grade 8 classrooms and associated staff will be self-isolating until a date to be determined by public health.
There is no evidence that the case was acquired or transmitted at school and in person learning will continue for the rest of the school.
Privacy concerns prevent sharing of further details of the case. A press release from the Saskatchewan Rivers Public School Division Director of Education, Robert Bratvold, said schools remain safe places to learn. Both the Local Medical Health Officer and the provincial Chief Medical Health officer continue to indicate that because of the protocols in place, schools are safe and are not significant source of transmission. ....

School Divisons awaiting direction for rapid tests

In late March, the Government of Saskatchewan announced that 100,000 rapid tests were being deployed to Saskatchewan schools.
The plan was that testing could begin right away, but according to Quinton Robertson, the director of education with the Good Spirit School Division, said eventhough they had received the rapid tests, like many school divisions, they are waiting on a plan on how to use the tests safely and effectively.
We are awaiting direction from our local medical health officer and from the province around the utilization of these resources, he said. I know they are in the development of selecting individuals that would be administering the assessment and also around the parental permission aspect. We have done nothing, and I am fairly certain that most school divisions are in the same position. ....
