overnor Muhammad Inuwa Yahaya of Gombe State has warned politicians to stop instigating violence in the state.
The governor said that his administration would not tolerate political thuggery in the state.
He spoke yesterday when he received the chairman, council members and other stakeholders from Akko Local Government Area of the state.
Our correspondent reports that youths suspected to be supporters of Senator Muhammad Danjuma Goje and those of Usman Bello Kumo had clashed during the recent Sallah Durbar in Kumo, which allegedly resulted in the death of two persons.
It was gathered that there is political rivalry between Goje and his erstwhile godson, Usman Kumo who represented Akko federal constituency at the National Assembly. ....

Reps approve N74.7bn for Police Trust Fund

The report reads: “That the House do consider the Report of the Committee on Police Affairs on the issue from the Statutory Budget of the Nigeria Police Trust Fund, the total sum of (N74,773,601,916.30) only.”
According to the approved budget, the sum of N988,279,006.05 is for Personnel Cost; N10,027,610,310.25 is for Overhead Expenditure while N63,757,712,600 is for Capital Expenditure.
The report indicated that the approved funds would be sourced from a Revenue Roll-over (2020) worth N23,631,857,141.30; 0.5% of the total revenue accrued worth N441,867,680,099 to the Federation Accounts.
Other sources include; 0.05%of total VAT worth N8,824,064,676; 0.05%of Net Profits of Companies in Nigeria worth N300,000,000 and Aids, Grants, Donations amounting to N150,000,000. ....

The House of Representatives, on Wednesday, approved the sum of N11,352,457,101.70 for the implementation of the 2020 capital budget for the Nigeria Police Trust Fund, which elapsed on March 31, 2021.
The lawmakers gave the approval after the consideration of the report/recommendation of the House Committee on Police Affairs, at the Committee on Supply.
Breakdown of the budget showed that the sum of N176,768,526.50 is for Personnel Expenditure; N547,125,592.20 is for Overhead Expenditure while N10,628,562,983 is for Capital Expenditure for the year ending April 30, 2021. ....

Senate, Reps C'mtes okay N11bn 2020 capital budget for Police Trust Fund -

A joint Senate and House of Representatives Committee on Police Affairs yesterday approved N11 billion for the Nigerian Police Trust Fund.
Chairman, Senate Committee on Police Affairs, Senator Haliru Dauda Fika who chaired the joint Committee announced the approval.
He hailed President Muhammadu Buhari for the establishment of the Nigerian Police Trust Fund.
According to him, this was the first capital budget of the Fund.
Senator Fika assured of intensive oversight of the Fund by the joint Committee to ensure proper implementation.
“Sometimes in 2019, President Muhammadu Buhari signed the Police Trust Fund bill into law and since then subsequently the Board was inaugurated. ....
