Police say Edwardsburg teen was visiting house of boy who accidentally shot and killed her

And police believe the boy had access to the safe where the gun was kept.
Officers with the Ontwa Township Edwardsburg Police Department were dispatched to a house in the 25000 block of Maple Street, a few miles southeast of Edwardsburg, around 1:40 p.m. on Sunday.
The girl was pronounced dead at the scene after suffering a single gunshot wound.
Edwardsburg Police Chief Douglas Westrick said the boy and the girl were friends and that the incident took place inside the house where the boy lived. Police do not know yet if the safe holding the gun was locked at the time, but Westrick said the boy knew the safe s combination. He added the firearm was a long gun and not a handgun.Â ....

B&E suspects captured after allegedly leading police chase

CASS COUNTY, Mich. – Two alleged breaking-and-entering suspects were captured early Monday morning after allegedly leading police on a chase, the Cass County Sheriff’s Office reported.
At 2:11 a.m., deputies caught two people who had allegedly stolen items from a barn in the 28000 block of Dunning St. in Jefferson Township.
The incident began when Edwardsburg Police officers saw a suspicious vehicle towing a golf cart at M-62 near Oil City Road. The vehicle then took off and led police on an alleged chase, reports said.
The golf cart crashed on Oil City Road while the van continued until it crashed into a trailer in Ontwa Township. ....
