Govt imposes anti-dumping duties on steel trade from Indonesia, Vietnam

KUALA LUMPUR: The Malaysian government has imposed anti-dumping duties on imports of cold-rolled stainless steel in coil, sheet or any other form (subject merchandise) originating or exported from Indonesia and Vietnam.
In a statement today, the Ministry of International Trade and Industry (MITI) said the anti-dumping duty for Indonesia is 8.80 per cent to 34.82 per cent and Vietnam 7.81 per cent to 23.84 per cent.
MITI added that the duties are equivalent to the amount of the dumping margins that has been determined.
The collection of anti-dumping duty on the subject merchandise has been enforced by the Royal Malaysian Customs Department for five years from April 24, 2021 to April 23, 2026. ....

Govt to review anti-dumping duties on cold rolled coil imports from China, South Korea, Vietnam

KUALA LUMPUR (April 13): The government will be initiating an administrative review (sunset review) of imports of alloy and non-alloy cold rolled coils from China, South Korea and Vietnam after evaluating and considering the evidence of dumping submitted by Mycron Steel CRC Sdn Bhd.
In a statement, the Ministry of International Trade and Industry (MITI) said a final determination on the investigation will be made within 180 days from the date of initiation, in accordance with the Countervailing and Anti-Dumping Duties Act 1993 and the Countervailing and Anti-Dumping Duties Regulations 1994.
“If the final determination is affirmative, the government will impose an anti-dumping duty that is necessary to prevent further injury to the domestic industry,” it said. ....

Kuala Lumpur: The government has received a petition from Southern PC Steel Sdn Bhd requesting for an anti-dumping investigation to be conducted on imports of stranded steel wires for prestressing concrete from China.
In a statement, the Ministry of International Trade and Industry (Miti) said the petitioner alleged that imports of the subject merchandise are being dumped into Malaysia at a price much lower than the selling price in China’s domestic market and this is causing material injury to the domestic industry in Malaysia.
“The petitioner further claimed that the dumped imports of the subject merchandise have increased in terms of absolute quantity and have caused material injury to the domestic industry. ....
