Ethiopia, Sudan to resolve border dispute "once and for all"

Ethiopia and Sudan have agreed to resolve border dispute once and for all, the spokesperson of the Ethiopian Foreign Affairs ministry has said.Ambassador Dina Mufti’s suggestion comes amid reports that Sudan has deployed troops along the Ethio-Sudanse border where there was a clash with Ethiopian militia men last week.
“Despite efforts by our common enemies to escalate the situation, the two countries have vowed to resolve the issues peacefully once and for all”, Dina said on Tuesday in an interview with local media.
Commander in Chief of the Sudanese Army and Chairman of the Sovereign Council, Abdel Fattah al-Burhan reportedly announced that troop deployment “to protect its territorial integrity and citizens as well as preserve the sovereignty of the homeland.” ....

Majority of Ethiopian satellite channels set to migrate to 57 deg East

As of 1 Jan 2021, Ethiopian TV audiences will need to adjust their respective local satellite antennae to 57 degrees East to access the SES-hosted Ethiosat direct-to-home platform which offers exclusively majority of popular Ethiopian TV channels.
Ethiosat is Ethiopia’s first-ever dedicated free-to-air (FTA) TV platform, hosted on SES’s NSS-12 satellite. The platform was launched in October 2019 as a result of an agreement between the Association of Ethiopian Broadcasters (AEB), the Ethiopian Broadcasting Corporation (EBC) and SES to consolidate all Ethiopian TV channels and broadcast them from one orbital position rather than having viewers navigate through a multitude of foreign channels. Ethiosat currently delivers 65 channels to Ethiopian homes, with 16 of those channels already in High Definition (HD) quality, which will be exclusive as of 1 January, a first for Ethiopia. ....

Ethiopia on Friday offered a reward in exchange for information that could help locate leaders of the Tigray region s ruling party, who have been the target of a major military offensive.
Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed, last year s Nobel Peace Prize winner, announced the military campaign against the Tigray People s Liberation Front (TPLF) on November 4, saying it came in response to TPLF-orchestrated attacks on federal army camps.
Abiy declared victory after federal forces took the regional capital Mekele in late November, but the UN says clashes persist in the region and TPLF leaders remain on the run. ....
