February 12 - 2021 KHARTOUM Sovereign Council member and deputy chairman of the anti-corruption committee Mohamed El Faki (SUNA) The Empowerment Elimination, Anti-Corruption, and Funds Recovery Committee said in a press release yesterday that it has gathered sufficient information about the activities of members of the former Sudanese regime under Omar Al Bashir. The Committee issued a directive yesterday to its state branches to take criminal procedures via the Public Prosecution according to the 2019 Empowerment Elimination Act (amended in 2020), the 2014 Counter-Terrorism and Money Laundering Act, and the 1991 Criminal Code (also amended in 2020). December 16 - 2020 KHARTOUM An Empowerment Elimination, Anti-Corruption and Funds Recovery Committee has been set up in Khartoum state. It is the first state anti-corruption committee in Sudan. Mohamed El Faki, member of the Sovereign Council and acting chairman of the Sudanese Empowerment Elimination, Anti-Corruption and Funds Recovery Committee, spoke at the opening session of the Khartoum state anti-corruption committee yesterday. El Faki stressed that the committee is political by nature and operates within the confines of the law. Its main task is to undo injustices inflicted upon Sudanese people by the Al Bashir regime.
