SWAT team called in to Elkins incident | News, Sports, Jobs

Local law enforcement officers and the Elkins Fire Department blocked several streets near Jennings Randolph Elementary School Thursday evening.
ELKINS Elkins residents were asked to stay at home Thursday evening after a man barricaded himself inside his home and the situation developed into a police SWAT team operation.
At 8:08 p.m. Thursday, the City of Elkins released the following information:
“Law enforcement officers are on-scene at a house on Evans Drive, where a suspect is barricaded inside. There are no other suspects at large. Please continue to shelter in place and do not approach this area, as the situation remains dangerous.” ....

ELKINS A shelter in place advisory has been lifted for South Elkins, where a police SWAT team operation took place Thursday evening.
The Elkins Police Department released the following at 10:51 p.m. Thursday:
Chief Travis Bennett said, “The shelter-in-place advisory for South Elkins has been lifted. There is no further threat to public safety related to this incident.”
City officials will release more information Friday as the investigation proceeds.
