New plastic film "deactivates Coronavirus in just 15 minutes"

New plastic film deactivates Coronavirus in just 15 minutes
A scientific collaboration including the companies Nanox, AplFilm, Braskem and the UFSCar (Brazil) and Jaume I of Castellón (Spain) universities has presented a plastic film which they claim has the potential to deactivate 99.99% of the novel coronavirus in just 15 minutes. This product, AlpFilm Protect PVC, is already available commercially.
The transparent
t PVC film including silver microparticles has now formed the basis of the technology patented by Nanox with the assistance of the Vinyl Application Engineering team of AlpFilm and Braskem.
Silica is a semiconductor that turns active in the presence of metallic silver to produce highly oxidative molecules with the ability to deactivate 79.9% of the novel coronavirus in 3 minutes and 99.99% in just a matter of 15 minutes. ....

Researchers develop incredible new material from silver tungstate that has antifungal and antitumor properties

Researchers develop incredible new material from silver tungstate that has antifungal and antitumor properties
An international team of researchers has developed a new material from silver tungstate that can eliminate fungi and protect against cancer. In a study published in the journal
Irradiated silver tungstate is anti-fungal, anti-cancer
Silver tungstate is an inorganic compound that belongs to a family of semiconductors called ternary tungsten oxides. Scientists have been exploring silver tungstate for its potential uses in medicine, in particular, through silver nanoparticles grown on its surface. These nanoparticles have antimicrobial, anti-cancer and anti-inflammatory properties, according to the researchers.
The team previously grew nanoparticles on the surface of silver tungstate by irradiating the compound with electrons and laser light in pulses lasting a few femtoseconds (one fs is a quadrillionth of a second). They observed that tiny “hair ....
