The Leonardo AW109LUH (known locally as “Helikopter 15”) has been in operation in the Swedish Armed Forces for around 18 years and since 2012, Saab has had an exclusive agreement to ensure the operational availability of the helicopters. The agreement confirms the Swedish Armed Forces’ continued trust in Saab as a long-term support partner.
The agreement includes the following:
Support and maintenance of all 20 helicopters including mission equipment, military equipment, and technical personnel.
Base personnel for command, planning and administration.
The provision of logistics and equipment, including engine maintenance.
Call options in the form of additional technical personnel and engineering services. ....

Saab has signed an agreement with the Swedish Defence Materiel Administration (FMV) regarding full support for Helikopter 15. The agreement is valid from Jan. 1, 2022, to Dec. 31, 2026, with additional option years up to Dec. 31, 2030. In conjunction with the agreement, an initial order valued at SEK 550 million will be registered.

Aerial firefighting fleet extension from Saab Sweden

Saab’s fourth aerial firefighting aircraft has touched down at Skavsta Airport, its home base, near Nyköping in Sweden
“For the last few months, we have been busy procuring aircraft and extending the organisation with pilots and maintenance personnel to be able to deliver the desired capability, thus strengthening Sweden’s civil defence,” says Ellen Molin, Head of Saab’s Support and Services business area.
Delivering up to 50,000 liters of water per hour
The AT-802F is an aerial firefighter capable of delivering up to 50,000 liters of water per hour. The ability to quickly get to remote sites and drop large amounts of water is crucial when assisting ground units in fighting forest fires. Based in Nyköping, the aircraft can reach southern Finland in two hours and Luleå in the far north of Sweden in three hours – but they can also be deployed to other sites depending on the risk of fires. ....

Saab Tests 3D-printed Part on Gripen Jet for Battlefield Damage Repairs

Saab has successfully conducted the trial which marked the first time an exterior 3D-printed part has been flown on a Gripen, rather than internal 3D-printed components. The purpose of the trial was to test how additive manufacturing could be used in battlefield damage repair.
The test flight took place in the skies above Saab’s facilities in Linköping, Sweden, on Friday, March 19. Gripen was fitted with a replacement hatch that had been 3D-printed using additive manufacturing, using a nylon polymer called PA2200. This work is a step towards 3D-printed spares being used for rapid repairs to fighter aircraft that have sustained damage while deployed on remote operations, thereby gaining a vital time-saving advantage. ....
