Embezzling Tk 31crore: Arrest warrant issued against mayor candidate in Bogura

A Bogura court has issued an arrest warrant against Abdul Mannan Akand, an independent mayor candidate of the Bogura municipality election.
Emran Hossain Chowdhury, judge of Special Judge s Court, passed the order yesterday in a case filed against Mannan for embezzling Tk 31 crore of Social Islami Bank, said Public Prosecutor Abul Kalam Azad.
The court was schedule to frame charges in the case today but Mannan, president of Bogura district truck owners association and former organising secretary of the Bogura municipality unit AL, was not present in court and his lawyer filed a time petition, he said. ....
