Director of Netflix hit "Shtisel" highlights Jewish Studies event

“Shtisel,” an Israeli television series about a family living in an ultra-Orthodox neighborhood in Jerusalem, is an international hit on Netflix. Its director and writer, Yehonathan Indursky, will talk about the series during “The Making of Shtisel,” an online event hosted by Cornell’s Jewish Studies Program on March 24, 4 – 5 p.m. Registration is required. This event is made possible because of support from the Hope and Eli Hurowitz Fund.
The event is co-sponsored by the Cornell Department of Near Eastern Studies and the Center for Israel Studies at Binghamton University.

Al Qattara Cinema to screen Emirati and Israeli short films in new one-night programme

A number of Emirati and Israeli short films will be shown together as part of a new virtual screening event this week.
Organised by the Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi (DCT Abu Dhabi), in collaboration with Image Nation and Jerusalem Sam Spiegel
Film & Television School (JSFS), a total of eight short films will be screened on Thursday
under the Al Qattara Cinema programme.
The event comes after an agreement between the Abu Dhabi Film Commission, the Israel Film Fund (IFF) and JSFS was signed in 2020
to promote co
operation in film and television between the two countries, including the introduction of a new annual film festival. ....
