Eastern Cape cop charged with shooting girlfriend, after claiming robbers were responsible

A police constable has been charged with attempted murder after allegedly shooting his girlfriend, and then lying that she had been shot in an attempted robbery.
The constable from the Mount Fletcher police station in the Eastern Cape was arrested on Wednesday, a week after taking his girlfriend to hospital.
He claimed she had been shot by people who had tried to rob them, said Independent Police Investigative Directorate spokesperson Ndileka Cola.
The officer allegedly went to open a case of attempted murder of his girlfriend and himself at the police station. When the police visited the girlfriend in the hospital, she informed them that she was shot by her boyfriend after they had an argument, she said. ....

Johannesburg: The Independent Police Investigative Directorate has arrested a Free State policewoman who allegedly tried to murder her boyfriend on Tuesday.
The Ficksburg Police Station-based 31-year-old policewoman, who is a constable by rank, was arrested on Wednesday.
It is alleged that the police officer was on duty, traveling with a colleague, when her boyfriend stopped by their police vehicle to speak to the policewoman.
It is alleged that the policewoman confronted the boyfriend about cheating.
Ipid spokesperson Ndileka Cola said: âAs alleged, the boyfriend went to the police vehicle which the girlfriend was in to speak to her crew. ....

An Eastern Cape policeman has been arrested for misleading law enforcement about an attempt on the life of his girlfriend.
The officer was taken into custody on Wednesday.

The 29-year-old officer, from Mount Fletcher in the Eastern Cape, was arrested after police discovered that is was him who attempted to kill his girlfriend.

Independent Police Investigative Directorate (Ipid) spokesperson Ndileka Cola says the woman was shot and wounded last week.

“It is alleged that the officer shot and wounded his girlfriend on the 5 May, claiming she had been wounded during an attempt to rob them.” ....

IPID also arrested another constable for allegedly shooting and injuring his girlfriend.
Both will appear in court on Thursday.
The Independent Police Investigative Directorate (IPID) arrested a police officer on Wednesday for the attempted murder of her partner.
IPID spokesperson Ndileka Cola said the constable, 31, stationed at Ficksburg Police Station in Free State, was on duty, driving with her colleague, when the boyfriend stopped by the vehicle to speak to her.
While he was there, the girlfriend went to her boyfriend s vehicle and checked his cellphone. It is alleged that the officer then went to her boyfriend and confronted him for cheating on her. As they argued, she allegedly took out her official firearm and fired shots in the direction of her boyfriend, but missed him. ....
