PDP S'West Congress: Fayose finally accepts Makinde as South-west PDP leader

Ex-Governor of Ekiti State, Ayodele Fayose, has acknowledged that the governor of Oyo State, Seyi Makinde, is the leader of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the South-west.
This is coming after months of leadership tussle between the duo. In fact, their fight affected the plans for the regional congress of the party.
The congress was initially scheduled for Ibadan on Saturday but is currently being held in Osogbo.
Mr Makinde, as the only governor of PDP in the South-west, is seen by some members as the natural leader of the party in the zone. But Mr Fayose said a “baby governor” cannot be his leader. ....

The PDP controls just one of six South-west states but its seemingly unresolvable crises may lead to even the loss of that state.
The
Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) had planned to hold its zonal congresses this weekend. That of the South-west was, however, rescheduled for Monday in Osogbo, Osun State, following a disagreement over the initial arrangement to hold the event in Ibadan, Oyo State, on Saturday. Like that of the South-west, that of some other zones were also rescheduled due to different crises.
The forced rescheduling of the South-west congress, however, reflects the critical state of the PDP in the region. For many years now, protracted leadership crises have left the PDP in factions in almost all the six states in the zone. ....

President Muhammad Buhari has told Ondo State Governor, Rotimi Akeredolu, to flush out all criminals in the state, especially those in the forest reserves.
This was contained in a statement by the Ondo State Information Commissioner, Donald Ojogo, after the Governor’s meeting with the President at the State House, Abuja on Wednesday.

PDP Directs Saraki Committee to Reconcile Makinde, Fayose

The National Working Committee (NWC) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has waded into the power tussle in the South-west chapter of the party that has pitted former Ekiti State, Mr. Ayodele Fayose against Oyo State Governor, Mr. Seyi Makinde.
The NWC has, therefore, mandated its Peace, Reconciliation and Strategy Committee to resolve the feud between the two zonal party chieftains, as part of efforts at repositioning the PDP in the South-west. The committee is headed by a former Senate President, Dr. Bukola Saraki, with former Gombe State Governor, Hassan Dankwambo; former House of Representatives Minority Leader, Hon. Mulikat Akande; former Cross River State Governor, Liyel Imoke; a former Katsina State Governor, Ibrahim Shema and former Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Senator Anyim Pius Anyim, as members. ....

The feud between Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, and a former governor of Ekiti State, Ayodele Fayose, over the leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party in the South-West has caused division among the state chairmen and other top party chieftains in the region.
Fayose and Makinde have reportedly been at loggerheads over the latter’s role in the Ekiti PDP crisis as well as the leadership of the party in the South-West.
