After COVID-19 turned into a pandemic, crimes have been rising in many countries with critical impacts on their prison situations. During the past year, a number of nations have struggled with how to manage COVID-19 infections inside prisons.
Most prisons, after all, are overcrowded with the number of inmates far exceeding their actual capacity. Prepared by the Thailand Institute of Justice (TIJ) and Penal Reform International (PRI), the Global Prison Trends 2021 report reveals how prison overcrowding has plagued as many as 118 nations. UN commission adopts Belarus-sponsored resolution to combat human trafficking
MINSK, 24 May (BelTA) – On the initiative of the Belarusian delegation, the United Nations Commission on Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice adopted by consensus the resolution “Implementation of the United Nations Global Plan of Action to Combat Trafficking in Persons” during a session in Vienna on 21 May, BelTA learned from the Belarusian Embassy in Austria.
The commission recommended the UN Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) adopt the resolution. The resolution is meant to enhance international cooperation and step up efforts of the UN member states to counter human trafficking. It describes the main milestones in the execution of the UN global plan of action to combat trafficking in persons and new challenges in this field, including the ones linked with the COVID-19 pandemic. ....

The news of Friday’s military plane crash jolted many, considering just three months ago, a military plane crashed with the seven officers onboard died. The late officers were returning to Abuja from Minna at the time of the incident. Just after that, in March, a Nigerian airforce jet went missing and it was latter discovered that it crashed. So, it is three crashes in three months, as the first and third clashes occurred exactly three months apart, February 21 and May 21.
