Emirates News Agency - DEWA to add additional 600MW of clean energy capacity to Dubai's energy mix in 2021

DUBAI, 13th June, 2021 (WAM) Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD & CEO of Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA), has announced that the authority will add 600 megawatts (MW) of clean energy capacity using photovoltaic solar panels and Concentrated Solar Power (CSP) during 2021.

The move will increase DEWA’s total power capacity from clean energy to 1,613 MW compared to 1,013 MW currently.

Al Tayer said that next July, DEWA will commission the 300MW first stage of the 5th phase of the Mohammed bin. ....

Dewa wins PFI award for 5th phase of MBR solar park

Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (Dewa) has won the ‘2020 Middle East and Africa Renewables Deal of the Year’ from Project Finance International (PFI) magazine for the photovoltaic 5th phase of the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park.
Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD & CEO of Dewa, received the award. Waleed Salman, Executive Vice President of Business Development and Excellence, and the project team also attended.
“The 900MW 5th phase of the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park based on the Independent Power Producer (IPP) model is a quality addition to our successful clean and renewable energy projects using the best global technologies. The 5th phase will be implemented by Shuaa Energy 3, established by Dewa and the consortium led by ACWA Power and Gulf Investment Corporation,” said Al Tayer. ....
