Ayimba (44) was battling cerebral malaria, which kept him away from the public eye since the start of 2021.
On May 9, Ayimba’s family gave an update on his health status, urging Kenyans to keep on contributing money to offset the medical bill of the ailing rugby legend.
Ayimba was admitted to the Kenyatta National Hospital (KNH) Private Wing.
After leaving his brief role as Kenya 15 s coach, Ayimba coached the Sevens team between 2006 and 2011, where they secured their first-ever World Series final in 2009 in Adelaide, Australia. In the same year, he led Shujaa to its maiden Rugby World Cup Sevens semi-final in Dubai. ....

Laxity blamed for Kenya s rising Covid-19 cases

Kenya s Covid-19 disease burden seems to be on an upward trend in what is likely to be as a result of laxity of citizens.
For instance, the cases of patients in the intensive care have been rising. On Monday and Tuesday, 51 patients were admitted in ICU compared to 34 on Monday last week.
The ICU cases were 47 on Saturday, 49 on Friday and 42 on Thursday. Similarly, the number of patients admitted on Monday were 333 in hospitals and 1,281 under the home-based care programme, compared to 328 in hospitals and 1,160 on Sunday.

Primary school headteachers and board members will undergo fresh training on financial management to protect free education billions under their custody.
This comes as it emerged that most members of Boards of Management (BoM) in the 23,000 primary schools do not have basic financial and record keeping literacy, leading to poor accountability and wastage.
An audit on use of schools capitation funds by the Ethics and Anti Corruption Commission (EACC) in 2016 raised many lapses that cost the government billions of shillings. ....

Headteachers from across the country have raised concerns over the administration of the national assessment examinations for primary school pupils that started on Monday, January 18, 2021.
The school heads decried logistical troubles in the preparation for the exams, with several institutions failing to start the exams.
The headteachers argued that high internet and printing costs posed a major challenge to the administration of the exams. The school heads also raised the lack of access to Information Communication Technology (ICT) facilities and lack of funds as other challenges experienced. ....
