OGDENSBURG – Over two dozen people rallied Monday at City Hall, holding signs saying, “Save our Library. Vote Yes on May 18” in support of the Ogdensburg Public Library’s public referendum. Due to budget cuts from the City of Ogdensburg, the library will be asking school district voters in May to approve an increase in taxes paid directly to the library. “In the last five years, city funding has gone down from $500,000 to $162,000 for the 2021 budget. Next year there will be nothing in the city budget for operating funds. There will be nothing for salaries, books, computers, heat, or light,” said Linda Griffin, past president and library trustee. ....

Friday, January 15, 2021 - 1:17 pm BY JIMMY LAWTON North Country This Week OGDENSBURG – Both of Canton’s town justices have recused themselves from a case in which Ogdensburg Mayor Jeff Skelly is alleged to have knocked Gerald Mack down on the steps of city hall. At the time Mack was a city firefighter, but he has since retired. Skelly has not been formally charged and maintains the incident was a setup. However state police have filed paperwork in Ogdensburg City Court, which includes three sworn statements alleging second-degree harassment charges. Due to potential conflicts of interest, two city judges recused themselves so the paperwork was moved to Canton Town Court. Now both justices there have also recused themselves. ....
Thursday, December 24, 2020 - 5:58 am To the Editor: Christmas is almost here and I couldn t be happier; it s my favorite time of year! We re busy at the North Pole getting everything ready for our BIG trip. Stopping in the North Country to visit all the children there is the best part! It won t be long til we re loading up the sleigh and setting off on our journey. Mrs. Claus and I wanted to thank the elves at Ogdensburg City Hall for watching over our mailbox yet again this year. We received nearly 400 letters from across the North Country! While I have done my very best to make sure each child received a response before Christmas, the mail this year might be a little slower than in times past. Please be patient and know that I have received your list and as always, I am still making my list and checking it twice. ....
