IbadanTwo persons were allegedly shot dead by an officer of Oyo State Security Network, codenamed Amotekun, in Ibadan, last Thursday.
The Amotekun personnel, said to also be a member of the Oodua People’s Congress (OPC), was accused of killing two people in Isale Osi area of the city.

But a statement by the Amotekun Commandant in the state, Col. Olayinka Olayanju (rtd), denied that its operative fired the gunshot.

Nigeria Needs Security, Restructuring Not Necessarily Yoruba Presidency — Makinde

Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde has said Nigeria needs adequate security and restructuring of the country much more than the ethnicity of the person who occupies the presidency.
The governor maintained that the need to restructure the country has become more imperative in the face of security challenges and only time will tell on which one is more desirable for Nigeria between a restructured Nigeria and a Yoruba presidency.
Makinde said this on Tuesday while handing over 33 operational vehicles and 396 motorcycles to the Oyo State Security Network, codenamed Amotekun Corps, for its take-off.
“I have heard some of our political leaders jostling around and saying they want to become the president of Nigeria in 2023. I think what we need at this stage is to secure our people and restructure Nigeria. ....

GOVERNOR Seyi Makinde of Oyo State, yesterday, called for the restructuring of the country before the conduct of the 2023 general elections.
Governor Makinde said this while handing over 33 operational vehicles and 396 motorcycles to the Oyo State Security Network, codenamed Amotekun Corps, for its take-off.
While addressing members of the corps during the occasion, at the Oyo State House of Assembly Complex, Secretariat, Ibadan, the governor expressed that the clamour for the establishment of state police to protect lives and property birthed the community policing system.
Makinde, however, berated moves by some political leaders across the country towards becoming president in 2023. ....
