Over 100 families of herders and farmers from neighbouring countries have encroached on Malagarasi-Moyovosi wetland in Kasulu District, according to Tanzania authorities in the western region of Kigoma.
The wetland, which covers over nine million hectares encompassing five rivers and riparian wetlands, is the largest drainage system into Lake Tanganyika. ....

BULOMBORA National Service has distributed 66, 000 improved commercial seedlings of oil palm, Tenera variety worth more than 400m/- to different district councils in Kigoma Region. The move is aimed at engaging farmers in a massive cultivation and transformation of oil palm-
-and end importation of edible oils in the country.
Bulombora National Service assistant farm manager Warrant Officer-II, Ombeni Mushi told Tanzania Agriculture Research Institute (TARI) officials that disseminated seedlings are enough to plant 1,200 new acres in different districts in the region.
The district councils that have benefited from the improved commercial seedlings of oil palm, Tenera variety are Kigoma TC, Kigoma District Council, Uvinza district council and Kasulu District Council. ....
