April 17 (UPI) The Philippine Coast Guard seized more than 200 tons of fossilized clam shells worth nearly $25 million this week in a joint law enforcement operation.

The act prohibits exploiting wildlife resources and their habitats, including trading the wildlife for the purposes of collection, CNN reported.
The PCG said this was the biggest illegal giant clam shell haul in the region s history to date.
The suspects are Rey Cuyos, 54; Rodolfo Rabesa, 48; Julius Molejoa, 47; and Erwin Miagao, 40. According to the PCG, they have been brought before the Palawan Council for Sustainable Development for inquest proceedings. ....

Authorities have arrested four suspects in the illegal trade of 200 tons of fossilized giant clam shells or taklobo worth P1.2 billion in Roxas, Palawan.
Joint forces of the Coast Guard Intelligence Group Palawan, Coast Guard District Palawan, Palawan Council for Sustainable Development (PCSD), the Philippine National Police – Maritime Group Palawan, Armed Forces of the Philippines - Intelligence Operatives, and Bantay Dagat Roxas on Friday conducted the operation at Sitio Green Island, Barangay Tumarbong.
In a statement, Philippine Coast Guard District Palawan Commander Commodore Genito Basilio said the incident is considered the biggest giant clam shell haul in Palawan to date. ....

Fossilized giant clam shells worth P1.2 billion confiscated in Palawan

About 200 tons of fossilized giant clam shells, locally known as “Taklobo”, with an estimated amount of P1.2 billion were recovered during a multi-agency law enforcement operations Friday, April 16, Sitio Green Island, Barangay Tumarbong, Roxas, Palawan.

Philippine Coast guard District Palawan Commander Commodore Genito Basilio said the incident can be considered as the biggest giant clam shell haul in the province.

Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, April 17)  Authorities have arrested four suspects in Palawan for selling 200 tons of fossilized giant clams shells, also known as taklobo, worth ₱1.2 billion.
In a statement Saturday, Commodore Genito Basilio, district Palawan commander of the Philippine Coast Guard, said the suspects were nabbed at Sitio Green Island in Barangay Tumarbong, Roxas on Friday. The incident is considered to be the biggest giant clam shell haul in the province, he added.
The operation was conducted by the Coast Guard Intelligence Group Palawan, Coast Guard District Palawan, PCSD, Philippine National Police Maritime Group Palawan, Armed Forces of the Philippines Intelligence Operatives, and Bantay Dagat Roxas. ....
